Somatics of Symbolism

The Somatics of Symbolism I have long taken quite an interest in symbolism, ever since Jordan Peterson made it make sense. Since then, I've also enjoyed Jonathon Pageau's work especially. What I've noticed is missing from a lot of talk of Symbolism, however, is an explanation of why  certain things represent what they do. In addition, Struan  has identified contradictory patterns in the symbolic matrixes of various religions, and Peterson/Pageau's explanations - I seek to explain why  they might be considered to be contradictory. Up and Down The primary notions expressed through symbolism are those of the specific and general , concrete and abstract , as well as part and whole . The defining aspect of all of these is that categories that are more specific, concrete, or parts of something all refer to something that 'covers less area' . Likewise, general, abstract, and wholes of something all refer to something that 'covers more area'.  The example here...

Hedonism

Hedonism Hedonistic Value Theory I assert both Axiological Hedonism  and Psychological Hedonism. By Axiological Hedonism, I mean that I believe that pleasure and pain are the basis of all value. By Psychological Hedonism , I mean that I believe that people's behaviour is consistent with their treating pleasure & pain in this way . The Value Theory Pleasure  and Pain  form the basis of all value. Pleasure  constitutes value, and pain  constitutes disvalue.  Pleasure  includes any pleasant feeling . It may go by several other names;  contentment, delight, ecstasy, elation, enjoyment, euphoria, exhilaration, exultation, gladness, gratification, gratitude, joy, liking, love, relief, satisfaction, Schadenfreude, tranquillity. Pain  includes any unpleasant feeling . It may go by several other names;  ache, agitation, agony, angst, anguish, annoyance, anxiety, apprehensiveness, boredom, chagrin, dejection, depression, desolation, des...

Metacognition

Metacognition Metacognition  is the capacity to do cognition about cognition . In other words, when your thoughts, emotions, or even just perception - any activity of your mind - is directed at some other activity of your mind, this is called metacognition . This is how we have 'self awareness'. This is when we know that we know things. The nature of metacognition and its implications are of central importance, I believe, to having any real understanding of how a human psyche works. Never forget the ever present disclaimer: This is just me noting down my current understanding. It's subject to change! Functioning Metacognition appears to me to be the human mind's ability to correct itself . Primarily, a mind (including those of animals!) takes sense data  and pleasure/pain  as its 'inputs', and generates prediction  and volition  as an output, both of which give rise to a coordinated action  that inanimate objects simply don't display. Only sense data and pl...
